Beam Weight Calculator

Calculate the weight of a steel I-beam from profile dimensions.

Beam Weight Calculator

Estimate the weight of an I-beam / H-beam using overall height, flange width, web thickness, flange thickness, and length. Uses steel density of 7850 kg/m³.

Formula

Weight = Cross-section Area × Length × Density

Step-by-step

  1. Area = 2 × (FlangeWidth × FlangeThick) + (Height - 2×FlangeThick) × WebThick
  2. Volume = Area × Length
  3. Weight = Volume × 7850 kg/m³

Example

A 200×100 I-beam with 8 mm web, 10 mm flange, 6 m long weighs about 89.2 kg.
